Creative Journey Cafe is a blog (not a real cafe, although I wish it were - that’s why I created it as a blog!) devoted to helping creative people succeed through inspiring articles, insights, links, and interviews.
The posts will often be targeted toward creative professionals: artists, writers, musicians, bloggers, designers, actors & entrepreneurs, but all aspiring creative people are welcome!
Topics you’ll frequently find here:
- Insights, tips, and advice about the creative process
- Thoughts and links about money and creativity
- Ways to improve your creative/spiritual journey
- Inspiration from creative geniuses
- Interviews with, and exposure to, amazing creators
- Randomly awesome inspiring stuff
The cafe is laid-back, positive, friendly, cozy, even magical. It’s a place you can visit 24/7, and you’ll always find a comfortable seat.
About the Owner/Proprietor/Chief Blogger
Hi…Yup, that’s me. I’m Mark Penta, and I’m on this creative journey with you. I started this blog because I’m passionate about several things:
- Art (including illustration, comics, music, writing…all the arts)
- Personal Improvement (spiritual growth, zen wisdom, psychology)
- Teaching (sharing inspirational stuff I learn with others)
- Coffeehouses/Bookstores (If I could live in them I would)
I make a living as a freelance artist - specifically an illustrator and caricaturist. I have always paid the rent by drawing…I’ve never had a “real” job. My career is split in two: I offer my caricature service for money - (I’m one of Boston’s busiest party caricaturists, but I also draw them for gifts, invitations, and promotional materials) and when I’m not drawing caricatures I pursue my other creative goals. I recently had my first picture book published, Cape Cod Invasion! , which celebrates the beauty of the Cape in the summertime, but with a twist - UFOs appear in every scene, visiting each town like tourists.
In my creative life, I have also pursued songwriting, and have taught drawing and cartooning to kids and adults, both privately and at various New England schools including Rhode Island School of Design. Lately, my focus is on drawing and discovering new, more efficient ways to profit from my creative skills. I want to share what I’ve learned, and continue to learn, with you as I pursue my creative journey.
Welcome to the cafe. Your feedback is welcome!
