Finding the Beauty in the Mundane

Mark on November 14th, 2008

The photo below is not a superimposed picture of an alien galaxy over a geometry teacher’s chalkboard…

It is not a psychedelic hurricane headed toward a Grateful Dead show.

It’s simply a snapshot I took with my iPhone as I walked across a parking lot this morning on my way to the Cafe.

It’s a drop of car engine oil, or gasoline, on wet pavement…

Is anything ugly, really?

  1. greasy galaxy

  2. It reminds me of a time when I was riding in the car with my mom a long time ago. The light was flickering through the trees as we drove past a wooded area. I kind of half way squinted my eyes which had some really awesome effects on the light. I thought it was really fascinating and beautiful. Sometimes light catches something just right and brings out beauty that was hidden in the dark.

    I-phone eh? Pretty impressive.

  3. That is the COOLEST! And no, I don’t think anything is ugly. I really don’t.
