You remember the TV show Northern Exposure from the early 1990’s, right?

I’ve been revisiting it on DVD. Man, it was one of the best, most intelligent, most creative TV shows ever.

If you need a little creative inspiration today, I think you’ll enjoy this great clip I found (video below). It’s John Corbett’s character, Chris, waxing poetic about light…and then he reveals his ‘brilliant’ art project. Enjoy!

Who was your favorite character on Northern Exposure and why? Leave your comment…

  1. ahhhhhhhhhhhh what a great nudge back to a fabulous show. thanks.

may fav character? Ed, hands down.
while there are so many rich characters in that show, Ed was the one who usually handed me the message of each episode. whiel he might not have been the narrator, he was my translator.

  2. Watching that clip causes a smile to creep up on your face. You can’t help but enjoy it. Northern Exposure was one of my favorites as well. It had a very eclectic group of characters. Sooo funny in a down to earth way. Good times! :O)

  3. Lisa - Ed, huh? That’s funny cuz Ed always kinda drives me nuts even though he’s so innocent. (I think he reminds me of a certain relative.) But that’s the great thing about the show - so many awesome characters.

Laurie - perfect description. I got the creep-up smile myself when I saw it!

  4. Ahhhh…when of my all time fav shows! I watched that clip and smiled and cried! I can’t pinpoint a fav character because I loved them all…thanks for this today…I needed this!

  5. Thanks Ash - your comment made my morning.

  6. This was the last blog post I could read before getting back to work writing and brainstorming for my clients. I was not expecting what I got.
    I feel stunned.
Like Ash, I have tears brimming.
I loved that show because they were not afraid to be creative, to force you to face yourself often with humour and often with a hammer.
This scene made me see that what I need for strength and energy and motivation is all around me. He found the strangest gadgets, mostly neglected items, that all, when connected to their source, produced light. And how like us in the blogosphere: they shined more brightly when connected to many others.
Mark, I am really blessed by you.
