Today’s special at Creative Journey Cafe:

A quote from Agnes de Mille:

Living is a form of not being sure…

Not knowing what next or how…

The artist never entirely knows.

We guess.

We may be wrong…

But we take leap after leap in the dark.

How do you deal with the unknown in your creativity? Does it excite you? Inspire you? Scare you? Leave a comment…

  1. It depends on the form of my creativity. My new business, I am excited about it. I know I will develop it in an innovative and unique way. With my writing, I get stuck with insecurity. I make these wire and beeded crosses. I love figuring out how to change things up for a new design. So it all depend on how secure I feel in my talents in the area we’re talking about. I think with the writing I just need to put it out there and see what happens. What’s the worse that can happen? Not writing at all! :O)

    What about you?

  2. Hi Mark,

With writing, the unknown sometimes scares me, but other times it’s exciting to see where it will take me.

  3. Laurie - yeah, feeling secure in your talent (in a particular area) keeps fear at bay to some extent, but I think fear is always there, and that’s probably a good thing. Your beaded crosses sound really nice. And no better way to put your writing out there than starting a blog! Look at me - I make a jackass out of myself every other day! ;)

Barbara - I feel what you’re saying. Like I said above, fear of the unknown seems to be part of the process somehow whether we like it or not. Forging ahead anyway and succeeding gives us more confidence the next time around.
