“The truth of a thing is the feel of it, not the think of it.”
- Stanley Kubrick

Logic and Intuition went shoe shopping:

Logic: “These shoes are perfect for you! They’re your favorite brand, the style is cool, and they’re even on sale!”

Intuition: “Yeah but they’re too small. They’re size 10 and I’m a size 11. They don’t fit.”

Logic: “Aw come on! That’s not much difference! Cram your feet inside! There are no other shoes like these in this store.”

Intuition: “I know. They’re great. They seem perfect. But, um…it hurts when I wear them.”

Logic: “You’ll get used to that. They’ll stretch. And don’t forget - they’re on sale!”

Intuition: “You could be right. You make perfect sense. Except - I’m uncomfortable wearing them.”

Logic: “You fool! You’re going to pass up the opportunity to buy these amazing shoes?”

Intuition: “Looks like it.”

Logic: “Are you nuts?! You might never get this chance again!”

Intuition: “Again, you could be right. But I just don’t like feeling uncomfortable, and I have a feeling that if I keep looking, I’ll find the right pair in another store.”

Logic: “I’ll never understand you.”

Intuition: “I know. That’s okay. I don’t understand myself sometimes. Ready to go? I have a hunch we’ll find them at Macy’s.”

  1. Or you can have the conversation
Logic: those pants are too cool.
Intution: Yes, but they are too tight.
Logic: You’ve been want to lose some weight. Here is your incentive.

How many outfits have women purchase on the promise to lose weight so it will fit? I think every woman is guilty of this one at least once in their life.

  2. thanks for the gentle nudge to honor my InTuItIoN Muse. she rocks! and - from what i’ve noticed in my own life, she’s always right on the mark.
    pardon the pun.

  3. Laurie - Being a guy, I’ve never had that problem. I just kind of moan about how I went up another waist size. :)

Lisa - glad you liked the nudge. From what I’ve noticed, intuition keeps talking to you - like sore feet in tight shoes - until you acknowledge it.

Thanks to both of you for chiming in. I was about to leave a comment for myself on my own blog, just so I’d have something there. “Great post Mark!” - “Thanks Mark, I think so too!” Hee ha!

  4. Mark,

That’s funny…you were going to leave a comment on your own blog. :) Have no fear, your fans are here.

Re: The shoe story. I used to do that. Now if a pair of shoes doesn’t feel great the first time I put them on, they stay on the shelf.

  5. Since it sounds like you’ve got multiple personalities battling each other in your head, it should be perfectly legal for various of them to post and comment on your blog. Maybe intuition will comment on Mark’s next Logical entry. =)

  6. Barbara - thanks for being there always!

CJ - I like that idea. Thanks!

Does anyone else find it interesting (aside from me) that logic and intuition are friends that go shopping together? What’s up with that?
